My thoughts on the live action The Lion King (2019) teaser trailer

Opening Thoughts:

Hello everyone welcome back to another film related blogpost! Today I’m doing something a little different but I’m planning on doing more of these from now on. And that is writing my thoughts on trailers for films that I’m interested and not interested in before they are released. So my first trailer thoughts for my blog is the live action Lion King movie that was released on Thanksgiving Day 2018. Now let’s get down to business.

What I Liked:

The main great thing that I liked about the teaser trailer is how gorgeous the film looks in terms of “live action”. I was just blown away of how all the animals looked like (especially Simba) and how they did their interactions with one another. The way they did their movements matched exactly like the 1994 animated film. I loved that James Earl Jones is reprising his voice role as Mufasa and him talking to Simba in the teaser trailer gave me the chills. I literally cannot see anyone else voicing the role of Mufasa other than James Earl Jones. I’m so happy they were able to acquire him for the role once again. I cannot wait to see how Simba, Mufasa, Scar, etc talk with one another since we are seeing a “realistic” film here. Hearing the Circle of Life theme in the teaser gave me the chills as well. The movie looks like it will have really good cinematography, visuals, etc no doubt. We only got a teaser trailer and already I see a few things that they did right. It’s great that Hans Zimmer and Elton John are also reprising their roles for this film just like they did for the animated film back at 1994.

What I didn’t like:

The main thing that I didn’t like from the teaser trailer and just for the movie as a whole in general is that the other original voice actors are not reprising their voice roles. It would’ve been great to see Jeremy Irons voicing Scar again because his voice of Scar is also iconic. I would’ve also loved to see Rowan Atkinson reprising his role as Zazu, Nathan Lane as Timon, Ernie Sabella as Pumbaa, and Matthew Broderick as Simba. I understand why they did not include fully the original cast but it would’ve been amazing just to feel the nostalgia. But I’m having my hopes up that Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Kani, etc do a good job with their roles.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I’m really excited to see the live action Lion King film in 2019. It’s one of my anticipated films of 2019 and I’m hoping it doesn’t disappoint. I know for sure that the film won’t top the 1994 animated film but I’m hoping it’s still really enjoyable and it’s watchable numerous of times. I understand that the 2019 film is mainly for the new generation but I’m hoping my generation (from the 90’s and 80’s) can still enjoy the movie for what it is and feel some big time nostalgia.

Anyways guys, I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on the 2019 teaser trailer of The Lion King. Stay tuned for another film related post or a movie review! đŸ™‚
